New Aggies (7/9): Kalen Williams

Updated: Jul 21, 2020

Don't know about you, but we can't keep up with all the talent Chris Jans has brought in, particularly in the last few months. This predicament inspired us to start a blog series on newcomers for the 2020 season. This is not limited to the 2020 recruiting class but will cover all Aggies we have yet to see suit up. Please enjoy the seventh installment of this 9-part series!

High school and JuCo Rankings
  • Not ranked coming out of high school but had a good first season at the JuCo level scoring 13.5 ppg while adding 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists through 31 games and shooting .581/.398/.656.

  • NM State head coach Chris Jans: "Kalen Williams is a terrific addition to our program. Kalen is an attacking guard that will prove to be dynamic on both ends of the floor. The fact that he has three years of eligibility makes his signing even more valuable."

Highlights
Eligibility and Fit
  • Three years of eligibility as a rising sophomore who only played one year of JuCo ball similar to Shunn Buchanan.

  • Williams joins a crowded backcourt with no D1 experience, don't expect many minutes this year but the future is bright.

Aggie Comparison
  • Terrell Brown (2018-20)
